Marquese Kese Deese

Biography
Born in San Antonio, Tx, but raised in the small town of Lockhart until he was a teen, before moving back to San Antonio…that's a long story, Marquese "Kese" Deese always possessed a strong love for music and cinema. Though the film bug didn't quite hit him until graduating high school, after watching a movie that inspired him to become a writer/director. What movie it was he doesn't remember.
This began a journey of reading everything he could get his hands on. Spending every available hour and dollar at Borders bookstore (may it rest in peace). However, with the cost of film school out of reach, he decided to focus on music, where after several stints at multiple community colleges, he finally took his talents to Austin Community College in 2010 to attend their music business program.
Though, after realizing he would never graduate, due to his inability to count using letters and numbers, which some may call algebra, he decided to fully commit to a career as a screenwriter. Where he took his first online screenwriting class with The Happy Writers in 2013, formerly owned by Joey Tuccio. From there he would go on to write numerous bad screenplays while working as a production assistant on film and TV sets until finally completing a feature script that led him to sign his first option in 2016.
Using his experience on the set, he ultimately gained the confidence to write, direct and star in his first short film titled "Pour Over: A Coffee Short" in 2017. In January 2019, the film was one of six in the entire world, to receive a $25,000 scholarship award from "super comic book nerd" Kevin Smith, to attend his alma mater, The Vancouver Film School.
That scholarship was ultimately returned as he was unable to attend. (I mean who has the money to move to Vancouver anyway).
